This 12 kw / 15 kVA industrial generator was developed for those who need dependable backup power without paying more expensive enclosures. It supplies a little less power then traditional enclosed units but far better for supplying backup power then a portable generator. The engine is the same YD385 model used in farm tractors around the world. You can expect over 10,000 hours of use out of this water cooled 1800 RPM engine. Many people install then in a garage, shed or beneath an overhang.

Generator Controller
This generator includes The Model 170 Automatic Engine Control Module. The module is used to automatically start and stop the engine, indicating the operational status and fault conditions, automatically shutting down the engine and indicating the engine failure by LED on the front panel.
Operation of the module is via a three position key switch mounted on the front panel with OFF, START and AUTO positions. In the OFF position the output are de-energized.
Manual Operation:
Once the Start button is pressed and held, the engine fuel system is energized. The Crank output is then energized and the starter motor operated, disengaging automatically when the engine fires or when the “Start” button is released. The protection hold-off timer is then initiated.
Automatic Operation:
When used in Automatic mode the controller will monitor for the following conditions and if a failure is detected it will shut down the engine:
- Low Oil Pressure
- High Engine Temperature
- Auxiliary Shutdown
- Battery Charge Failure Warning
- Over speed (derived from alternator frequency Hz. measurement Can be set to 50 or 60 Hz.)
This will remove the fuel supply from the engine and bring it to rest. Each alarm has its own LED indicator and once activated no further alarm conditions will be accepted. The alarm output and relevant LED will remain active until the unit is reset by turning the switch to the off position.
During engine cranking and for a short time afterwords the protection hold-off timer (10 seconds) is active and the relevant alarm inputs are inhibited. This enables the engine to start and achieve normal running conditions. Once the timer has expired the inputs are enabled providing normal protection from the module.

Optional – 200 Amp Transfer Switch $349.00
A transfer switch allows safely switching from utility power to emergency generator power while maintaining isolation of each source from the other. The switch may be either a manual switch, an automatic switch, or a combination of manual and automatic. In a home during a power outage, for example, the transfer switch allows isolation of the owner’s critical circuits (e.g. cooling, refrigerator, lighting) from the utility service, allowing for operation of the generator without back-feeding to the utility, which can damage utility equipment and hurt (or kill) utility workers.
Most homes in North America have 200 amp rated electrical service. To switch the whole home on and off the main power grid and safely direct it to your generator this transfer switch is recommended.
Transfer Switch model number TWB2005DR
This Panel/Link TWB includes a 200A main circuit breaker interlinked with a 50A generator breaker feeding a heavy-duty copper bus with feed-through lugs. The interlinked circuit breakers keep the generator isolated from the utility at all times, even with the deadfront removed. The TWB is suitable for service entrance and may be used as a main panel or feed-through to a sub-panel or main panel. The TWB has provision for 4/8 branch circuits and is ideal for applications requiring the entire service panel to be available for generator power.
