Propane Generators – Never buy one.

Save your money. You will not be happy with Propane.

propane fire

By its own nature any flammable gas is potential for disaster, it’s all a matter of minimizing your risk. Propane driven engines do not have the cooling or lubricating benefits of diesel fuels on valves. They also produce far less power.  There is spark plugs to clean and carburetors to maintain.

Propane is a very explosive gas.  It is horrible on engines and those that do use propane require more maintenance.

As the gas within the propane tank is under high pressure a regulator is required to reduce the pressure to the level that can by used by your generator.  This regulator contains a rubber diaphragm that will wear out over time. When the rubber fails, gas will leak. It can fail at anytime and without warning. If it happens while your sleeping and gas enters your home your likely to wake up dead. Your smoke detector will not detect propane.
