Generator Oil Filters

Beware of aftermarket filters. There is more to a filter then simply whether or not it is the same size and fits on the mounting threads. There are important considerations such as flow capacity and bypass valve characteristics for which it is hard for the casual observer to verify compatibility with OEM specifications.

Cars oil filters have lower bypass valve pressure settings. The bypass valve is for when a filter clogs up, the pressure builds and the valve opens up allowing unfiltered pressurized oil to the bearings. This is not good, but it is better than the filters exploding and no oil getting to your engine. The pressure settings in most cases are different on your generator engine then on a car. The higher oil pressure in your diesel engine may be keeping this bypass valve open all the times. When it is open, the oil is not filtered and all the crap is just recirculating around destroying your engine with each use.

We carry original manufacture filters. We strongly suggest using what your engine was designed to use then an unknown aftermarket filter.

Look up your original oil filter number, NOT what model engine you have as they may each be setup differently and have had their engine oil pressure adjustments performed at the factory with the original type of oil filter.
